Your character would grab your dizzied foe by one arm and one leg, spin about in circles to get up enough momentum, and then hurl them into a massive fan in the background.
The plummet could be filled with sickening splats and hits as the body comes in contact with stone slabs, gears, and wooden spikes, and could end with a final splat followed by the bell coming down for the coup de grâce.Įasily the most memorable stage kill from Mortal Kombat 4 was the Prison stage's fan toss. Perhaps this begins to dislodge the bell from its supports and as the loser's increasingly lifeless body bounces around the center of a staircase (maybe something like the one from the Spider-Man cartoon wherein Eddie Brock first becomes Venom) the bell eventually comes loose and follows. Perhaps the victim is cast directly into a massive bell that makes for a very satisfying "thwok/gong" to kick things off. The concept, however, is ripe for a revisit with modern-day visuals and more creative sequences.Ī new Bell Tower stage would be awesome, for starters, and immediately our imaginations begin to wonder what crashing down the multiple levels might look like. The original sequence lost its flair fairly rapidly because the various floors were all identical, copy/paste backgrounds and the actual execution with those somewhat bland MK spikes just didn't make a ton of sense. It reappeared in MK Armageddon with a similar kill that underwhelmingly saw the loser crash through one level and land on a single spike. The idea is that you uppercut your foe from the top level of the Bell Tower stage and they proceed to crash through the wooden floorboards of no less than six levels of the tower until they finally meet their demise with some traditional (but unexplained) spikes at the very bottom. This stage Fatality was pretty cool the first time we saw it but got old fairly quickly. Some of the choices below would obviously require that their respective stages were added, so I suppose part of this is a stage wishlist as well. I do lay out some creative potential sequences in the text below, but I'd like to say now that I firmly support the idea for various kill sequences for each stage Fatality, not unlike what we saw in MK 2011 on Kratos' Chamber of the Flame. Also, MK11's Trap Dungeon stage will probably get a Fatality of its own, but that's so damn obvious that I decided not to have it take up a slot on my list here either. Go ahead and put the classic in, but there are a handful of other arena kills that I'd much rather see. I'm not going to say that The Pit shouldn't be in MK11, but I don't really want to put it on my hopefuls list. It's also pretty tired and kinda boring as it traditionally follows the old "fall really far and end up on a spike" formula. This has been around since MK1 and is an absolute classic that seems to pop into just about every Mortal Kombat title at some point.
